Recently, a training session was organized for Medicine and Surgery students in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology at Dr. Sumait Hospital. The workshop focused on eye diseases and examination techniques, equipping students with the essential skills to diagnose and manage common ocular conditions. Throughout the training, students learned to assess various eye diseases, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. They received hands-on experience in conducting eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, fundoscopy, and tonometry, while gaining practical knowledge of using diagnostic tools effectively.
The training emphasized the importance of early detection in preventing vision loss and the role of healthcare providers in educating patients about eye health. Dr. Ga’al, a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and a doctor at Dr. Sumait Hospital, shared his expertise on the latest advancements in ophthalmology, enriching students’ learning and providing them with a real-world perspective on eye care. This valuable training has prepared students with the clinical skills needed to address eye-related health issues and contribute to improved patient care.
