Dr. Mohamed Abdullahi Awale MD MBchB, MMED surgery Senior Consultant Surgeon at Dr.Sumait Hospitals, Senior Lecturer at SIMAD University Dr. Awale Abdullahi was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. His residency was at Makerere university and its affiliated Mulago National Referral Hospital, and he completed his Master and training at the Makerere university. Dr. Awale has fifteen years’ experience in General surgery, Urology, Plastic surgery with special interest minimal invasive surgery, Ventriculoperitoneal shunts, ureterolithotomy ,nephrectomies, hernia repair, varicocelectomies and endoscopic procedures. during his operating time, he operated more than five thousand patients in which are Caesarian sections, penetrating abdominal, chest and head injuries, open prostatectomies, stones in GU system hernias repair, hydrocelectomies, varicocelectomies, decortications of chest, contractures, skin grafting, cleft Lip, palate, and benign and malignant tumors in the body. He teaches medical students for basic surgical skills, General surgery and Urology. He is the General Secretary of Surgical society of Somalia. He was former Hospital Director at Daynile General Hospital which funded by MSF France. He participated many free surgical camps in many cities in Somalia in which he was team leader helping needy people. In addition to his surgical practice, he is member of college of surgeons east central and southern Africa. He is also founding member of surgical society of Somalia. he has research interest and published many article related to surgical infections, COVID 19 , breast, Hepatocellular carcinomas, Anal fissure, anal fistula and hemorrhoids. he is the Editorial Reviewer of BMC surgery, one of the respected journals in the world. He supervises and advises Thesis and research article to medical student at SIMAD university. Area of Interest Minimal Invasive surgery including General Surgery, Urology, surgical Oncology, Trauma and surgical infections. Writing and Reviewing surgical articles.
