Our Department of Nursing was established in September 2015 in response to critical shortages of skilled nursing cadres capable of providing holistic care to the individual, family, and community, thereby improving the quality of life of the people of Somalia.
The Department believes that Nursing is an interaction between the individual, family, and the community, and it is designed to prevent illness, promote health, provide, and restore optimal health levels, and provide adequate support for the dying. It seeks to assist individuals, families, groups, and the community to overcome deficiencies.
The program prepares qualified nurses for this role by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and attitudes applicable and transferable in various settings through problem-solving and student-centered teaching and learning approaches. In these approaches, the students will take responsibility for their learning, leading to better learning outcomes and well-prepared graduates for future roles.
